Picture day 180 – A little ‘house’

© Petra Stridfeldt

When I walked around in ‘my’ forest I came across this little ‘house’ that some kids had built and at the same place I built or actually tried to build something like that when I was a child.

The more I photograph these places where I grow up I understand how privileged I was. It might sound a bit cliché but I honestly think it was better in the past for kids… OMG that sounds like I’m about 80 years old 😉

I am 80 years old and spent my child bare-foot in the Australian bush close to nature with only a dog for a company. Not many children live like that today. I agree we were luckey.

I guess the children today when they are older and got their own children will say that their childhood was better… it is just that today it’s so many things you need to deal with. In the past there were three fundamental things that was important. Food, work and a house to live in. Nowadays you need a University degree (or two), you need a career, you need to look fit, have lots of interests, be on Facebook, Twitter, blogging, be updated about news around the world, etc etc. no wonder why people gets stressed out.

However, that must have been a very specially childhood. Australia is a fantastic country at least the part I have been lucky to visit. I will hopefully next year go on a trip around the world on my motorcycle and hopefully Australia will be one of the places I will ride through.

Very nice. It’s always good to go back and find the old memories and sights. it kind of makes everything right.
