Picture day 144 – A road in Namibia

© Petra Stridfeldt

Another shot from the Skeleton coast. When driving on these type of roads for a longer time you get time to think. I believe with our hectic life where Internet, TVs, music, shopping, shopping, shopping, etc., are a very big part of our lives, we are avoiding to really think what we really want with our lives. We are “brainwashed” with all advertisement, the culture we are living in and how we were brought up. Travelling like this actually makes you to calm down and realize what a materialistic life we live. I have a feeling that we sometimes are afraid to be alone with our thoughts and to maybe realise that the life we live is not the life we really want…. Went a bit deep there, sorry 😉

Where is the road? Every-time I see land so flat and endless I just am amazed.

The greys all melding into one another — excellent! Really gives the sense of vastness and isolation.

Long drives have that tendency towards reflection.
